Natural, siempre en sincronía, siempre mostrando la misma cara hacia nosotros, siempre brillante en el cielo, siempre con sus ciclos regulares que nos influencian tanto en nuestro ánimo, fertilidad, lenguaje, calendario, arte o mitología. Y yo no tengo que esperar la noche para verte.

Natural, always in synchrony, always showing the same face towards us, always bright in the sky, always with its regular cycles that influence us so much in our mood, fertility, language, calendar, art or mythology. And I don’t have to wait for the night to see you.

Mi intención fue reevaluar el escenario que veía cada día, reconstruirlo y captar la esencia urbana y las narraciones cotidianas que habitaban allí.

My intention was to reassess scenes I saw every day, deconstruct them, then rebuild them, capturing their urban essence and the daily stories that they told.

Vuelvo a explorar la experiencia entre el todo y el fragmento (zoom in, zoom out) reflejando nuestra manera de ver el mundo: podemos ver el edificio de enfrente como un conjunto, casi invisible por verlo a diario, un mero objeto urbano con un conjunto anónimo de vidas; o ver su esencia como un lugar de la vida humana, las personas reales que allí viven, sus vidas, sus hábitos, sus historias, su entorno, verlos como sujetos individuales.

Quise reflejar la manera de ver el edificio, no en su forma entera sino piso por piso, vida por vida, y así fui reconstruyendo el edificio rectangular y regular en una representación expresionista e irregular: áreas de luz cálida, hogares, vida humana de calor y color dentro de un edificio nocturno negro y oscuro.

Vi la soledad de las personas viviendo allí; su aislamiento a pesar de estar solo a unos metros de otra persona. Vi la yuxtaposición entre lo que era supuestamente una vida comunal y cercana, y la realidad solitaria, distanciada y fragmentada.

Once again, I explore the relationship between the whole and the fragment (zoom in, zoom out), reflecting upon our way of seeing the world: seeing the building opposite as a whole (almost invisible from having seen it every day), or seeing its essas a place where people live, a structure that people call home: their lives, their habits, their stories, their surroundings; seeing them as individuals.

I wanted to reflect this duality in the way I represented the building: not in its entirety as a structure; but floor by floor, room by room, life by life. Effectively, I rebuilt the rectangular and regular form into an expressionist and irregular image: a boring building replaced by areas of warm light, real homes, real people with their warmth and essence and colour.

I also saw the loneliness of the people living there; their isolation despite being only a few metres away from each other. I saw the juxtaposition between what was supposedly a community of neighbours, and the reality of lonely, fragmented and distanced lives of isolated people.

Intenté aislar los pies de su contexto como parte de un cuerpo entero, reflejando así la estética de las formas y líneas esenciales. Quise celebrar y presentar este objeto del deseo como algo hermoso y natural, evitando imágenes típicas que rodean al tema.

I tried to isolate the feet from their context as part of a whole body, thus reflecting the aesthetics of the essential forms and lines. I wanted to celebrate and present this object of desire as something beautiful and natural, avoiding typical images surrounding the subject.

Este proyecto nace participando en un concurso de fotografía bajo el tema: ¨los pies”. Según mi opinión, tanto los pies como el rostro están dotados de expresividad. Con tan solo fijarse en los pies, es posible distinguir la esencia de la persona.

Quise hacer una representación del contorno de esta parte del cuerpo humano simulando una técnica de arte japonesa: “Sumi-E”, que significa pintura a tinta. Con este método, se utilizan sólo las sombras derivadas de la tinta, la totalidad del espectro, desde el negro lleno hasta el blanco. Un trazo conduce sin esfuerzo al próximo. Los efectos con pinceladas de trazos simples representan las formas.

This project was born from the participation in a photo contest with the theme: “the feet”. In my opinion, both the feet and the face are endowed with expressiveness. With just looking at the feet, it is possible to distinguish the essence of the person.

I wanted to make a representation of the outline of this part of the human body simulating the Japanese art technique: “Sumi-E”, which means ink painting. With this method, only the shadows derived from the ink, the entire spectrum from full black to white are used. One stroke leads effortlessly to the next. The effects achieved with simple brushstrokes represent the shapes.
